I’m taking a break from the NaBlPoMo “I’m Thankful” for posts for a WP Daily Prompt.
Today’s prompt: Cousin It
We all have that one eccentric relative who always says and does the strangest things. In your family, who’s that person, and what is it that earned him/her that reputation?
When I saw this prompt, I immediately thought of yours truly. I’m the black sheep in the family, so to speak. I don’t do and or like most things the folks in family like to do. I like to go hiking, rock climbing, white water rafting, camping, zip lining, almost any activity that ends in -ing.
I can’t say when this reputation started, but I know it was early on. I began living up to it when I started rock climbing. I thought that would be a good way to conquer my fear of heights. I’m still afraid of heights, but it sparked an adrenaline rush.
A few years ago, I went skiing for the first time and did the introductory class and found it quite exhilarating. I’ve been a couple more times, but not enough to get past level two. And stopping is still a bit of challenge.
I personally don’t think that it’s particularly eccentric, but to members of my family they think it’s a bit weird.
